Wet rooms have become one of the fastest growing trends in bathroom renovation across Hemel Hempstead. Homeowners are increasingly choosing wet rooms for their modern design, improved accessibility, and long lasting practicality. As properties in the area continue to evolve, from older homes to contemporary new builds, more residents are turning to wet rooms as a way to maximise space and future proof their homes.

Many people choose wet rooms for a variety of reasons. They are easy to use, simple to maintain, and offer a clean, contemporary look. For others, wet rooms provide essential accessibility features that make everyday life safer and more comfortable. This year, we saw exactly how powerful a well designed wet room can be when we created a fully accessible space for a young boy named Teddy.

A Wet Room Designed to Support Teddy’s Independence

Teddy has a limb length discrepancy, and as he grows, he has been working towards gaining more independence in his daily routine. Traditional bathroom layouts made showering difficult, and he often relied on his parents for support. His family wanted a solution that would give him confidence, safety, and the ability to manage more tasks on his own.

We designed and installed a wet room that allows Teddy to use the shower with ease. The level access floor removes barriers, and the open layout gives him the freedom to move without restrictions. To support him further, we installed a shower seat so he has a comfortable place to rest if he becomes tired. The seat also gives him the option to shower independently while still having a secure and stable space.

Why Wet Rooms Are Ideal for Accessibility Needs

Wet rooms are one of the most adaptable bathroom solutions for accessibility. They can be customised to suit a wide range of needs, including:

  • Level access flooring

  • Built in seating

  • Grab rails

  • Non slip surfaces

  • Wheelchair friendly layouts

These features can be integrated without compromising on style, making wet rooms a popular choice for families planning for long term comfort and mobility support.

Growing Demand in Hemel Hempstead

Whether it is supporting a child like Teddy, helping an elderly relative stay independent, or simply upgrading to a contemporary bathroom, wet rooms offer a flexible solution that works for all ages and abilities.
